2012 was 57 days ago, and the Oscars were yesterday, but that’s not going to stop me from blogging my top ten movies of 2012 in late-February anyway. The truth is, not only am I too busy to blog on a regular basis, but I’m also too busy to see every movie I want to see on its opening weekend. Matter of fact, had “Hitchcock” not been released early to Pay-Per-View this past weekend, I wouldn’t even be blogging about this until March. So, without further ado, my top ten films of 2012:
- Django Unchained
- The Dark Knight Rises
- Silver Linings Playbook
- Moonrise Kingdom
- Beasts of the Southern Wild
- Zero Dark Thirty
It’s rare I’ll take time out of my day to sit down and watch a music video, let alone share one, but this one I had to. The video is pretty creative, and the song itself really brings me back to the 90′s. Note the Blazers hat on the guy in the second verse. Am I biased, or do the Blazers have the sickest hats in the NBA?
Anyway, this song is from Nas’ upcoming album Life Is Good. I’m not sure when the album drops, but I can’t wait.
First thing I did Friday morning was roll out of bed and buy Ab-Soul’s latest release “Control System” on my iPhone. After giving it a spin that morning, I liked it. Listening to it again on my way home that night, it grew on me a little more. But by Saturday afternoon, I loved it. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a Black Hippy Stan, but there’s honestly not a song on this album I don’t like. The rhymes are good and the beats are chill. Although Ab-Soul does his thing, the songs featuring Kendrick Lamar (“Illuminate” and “Black Lip Bastard (Remix)”) are probably the best tracks on the album. And as far as other Black Hippy releases go, Schoolboy Q’s “Habits & Contradictions” is still probably my favorite album of 2012, but this isn’t far behind it. (Verdict: 8.0/10)
You can stream the album over at Underground Charisma. Enjoy.
This is Roscoe…
My parents new boxer. One of the reasons I’m working so hard is so I can get a house, so then I can get a dog. I’ve been eyeing boxers and bulldogs for the most part, so I’m pretty jealous.
I was watching The Dark Knight Rises trailer over and over and over and over…
Not really though. But if I had the two hours to spare, and did watch this over and over, I wouldn’t consider it time wasted.
